Project: Electric bike startup Delfast Bikes Location: Kyiv, Ukraine; California, USA Features: High-cost bikes; content exclusively in English, primarily targeting the US and Canadian audience Collaboration Period: January 2021 - May 2023
Delfast Bikes - a Ukrainian startup that has garnered numerous awards and press mentions, including setting two Guinness World Records for riding 367 km on a single charge and a speed record at the Bonneville Speed Week.
I joined the team as a social media specialist to adapt our accounts for an international audience. Within four months, I was responsible for all text, graphic, and video content seen by our clients both online and offline. Later, I transitioned from content manager to marketing specialist. In this new role, I not only managed content but also collaborated with PR teams, interacted with journalists, participated in event preparations in the USA and oversaw new product launches and overall brand promotion. Thus, I began managing teams in both our Kyiv, Ukraine and Los Angeles, USA offices.
This product is challenging to sell directly, with our target audience primarily consisting of affluent individuals seeking leisure and new experiences, such as "rad dads" and "techno-geeks." One of our key communication objectives with potential customers is community building by conveying values that align with their lifestyle, including:
Freedom: Ease of movement and independence from charging due to the unique battery.
Eco-friendliness: Zero CO2 emissions.
Not a Toy: Breaking stereotypes, showcasing that e-bikes are fast, powerful, and stylish.
Philosophy: Every brand has an ideology and a team behind it. People prefer buying from people, so we share stories about the team and the brand's journey. We also developed the founder's personal brand, which has proven to be a powerful business tool.
Another target audience consists of B2B/B2G clients, such as delivery services and police departments, primarily managed by our US-based manager.
I redesigned and updated the content of most pages on the website to make it more user-friendly, ensuring that users interact with information that triggers them to take the next action.
Achievements
Blog Strategy: Collaborated with an in-house SEO specialist to develop a quarterly article plan for the blog. We realized that our team needed an American copywriter to ensure our content resonated deeply with our clients and read naturally, particularly for our predominant California-based clientele. Consequently, we adjusted our style and language to align with this audience.
Social Media Strategy: Organically increased monthly reach by 26.4% and website clicks by 30% compared to the previous month.
Email Campaign Strategy: Developed a structured approach to email campaigns, ensuring they align with the brand book for visual consistency, are tracked for statistics, and are linked to blog themes.
Photo and Video Shoots: Conducted shoots in Kyiv and Los Angeles.
PR and Events: Collaborated with a PR specialist to design stands and all POS materials for major tech exhibitions such as Earth X, Electrify Expo, and CES.
The average order value is $6,300. Thus, these three sources generated approximately $428,400
